Girls: Register for SWE Invent It Build It 10/29

Here is a great opportunity aimed at our girl roboteers. The Society of Women Engineers national conference is being held in Philadelphia from 10/26 – 10/29 at the Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia.
As part of the conference the Invent It Build It program allows middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students to participate in an all day workshop from 9:30am to 3:30pm. The Invent It. Build It! program exposes girls to design process and women engineers through a series of activities. Parents get to learn about colleges, scholarships, other clubs/programs.

Watch Vex Worlds on ESPN2 July 20th

Check this out! ESPN 2 will be showing the 2016 VEX Robotics World Championship on July 20th at 9pm. So set your DVR and see if you can find any Vexmen. This is a big step for robotics competitions and maybe you can be on TV next year.

Two Vexmen Teams Win Design Awards At Vex World Championships

Vexmen middle school teams 80M Mercury, 80W Warpath, and 92P Phoenix traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the 2016 VEX Robotics World Championship, held April 20-23 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. To qualify, teams had to win one of the top awards at PA States. Team 80M Mercury won the Excellence Award in Middle School, team 80W Warpath won the middle school division, and team 92P Phoenix won the IQ design award. All three Vexmen teams were judged for overall design and competed strongly in competition. In the end, teams Warpath and Phoenix independently earned coveted division “Design Awards.”

Teams 80J Cannonball and 81Z Professor X Win Awards at US Open

On Saturday, April 9, 2016 team 80J Cannonball of the Vexmen took home the “Think Award” at the 2016 CREATE U.S. Open held at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Team 81Z Professor X competed in a bonus Mega Team Challenge and took home second place.

Team 80J Cannonball performed extremely well overall placing 7th out of 89 teams in the qualifying rounds and 7th in autonomous robot skills against middle schools from more than twenty states. The “Think Award” is presented to a team that has successfully utilized autonomous programming modes during competition. Vexmen Win 18 Awards at PA States!

The Vexmen regular season is complete and we performed extremely well at Pennsylvania State Championships! We are very proud of all of our teams and how they compete and learn.
We won an astounding eighteen trophies at PA States and will send three teams to the Vex Robotics World Championships in Lousiville, Kentucky this April. This will be the sixth consecutive year the Vexmen have sent teams to the Vex world championships.
Representing the Vexmen at Vex World Championships will be team 80N, Nightcrawler, who earned their ticket by winning the middle school Excellence Award, them 80Y, Cypher, who won the middle school Design Award, and team 81M, Mystique, who won the high school Design Award.
