Vexmen Registration Through Sept 7, 2016

It is that time of year again, time to start the new Vexmen season! This is the time of year we start opening our doors and making new teams on the Vexmen. We run two Vex competitions across middle school and high school grades – Vex VRC and Vex IQ.

We will have two information sessions on September 6th and 7th at the Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center cafeteria. Please choose a night that matches when you will be able to come on a regular basis. Additionally, please fill out a registration form so we can better figure out capacity.

The Vexmen build robots and compete at the local, state, and international levels. Teams are comprised of 4-5 student roboteers along with 2-3 adult mentors. Each team builds and programs their own robot of their own design each season. We are a club but robots compete against each other.

Due to the Vexmen’s unprecedented growth over the last two years, we will only be able to accept a limited number of new students through an online application process. 2015 was an explosive growth year for us and we actually exceeded our 5-year growth plan in a single shot making the Vexmen the world’s largest Vex Robotics Competition organization.

A number of factors including building space, competition space, and our ability to provide a world class program requires us to limit new members in a way that helps us maintain our organization in a sustainable manner.

Additionally, the Downingtown Area School District (DASD) rewrote its facilities usage requirements over the summer and placed restrictions on the percentage of non-DASD students that can be part of an external organization like the Vexmen and still receive the discounted and priority facilities access that is essential to our operation.

The most direct way that we can concentrate on serving our needs and our local Downingtown community is to give first priority to new students living within the DASD boundaries. We are unsure at this point if local demand will be too high to allow us to accept any new Vexmen from outside the DASD geographic area.

Please fill out the registration form above and our first informational meetings will be on September 6th and 7th. Please fill the registration form prior to attending even if you do not know if you want to participate yet.
